First step

I was wondering about blogging for some time now and, amazingly, today happens to be that magic day - a good day to start doing it, and actually start learning how to do it. The amazing thing is that when I turned on my computer in the morning from hibernation it was on the blogger.com. I left it on twitter yesterday. So I took it as a sign to start sharing my thoughts with whoever might be interested on the blogosphere. Of course there is some hesitation from my part on what subject I could start doing it, what are the things I can and I cannot share at this time. I hope that these will crystalize over time as I move ahead and learn.

Since, this is a pilot I want to start with simple news that are preoccupying my thoughts and efforts these days: first, the company that I help manage raised its capital and we worked to deliver these news to the stakeholders today. You can find it on the company's website: http://www.tengerfg.com/, I believe.

Second, news on Mongolia, my homecountry: we have a new Prime Minister and the speech he has made in the Parliament last week was very inspiring and touched many. I can't wait to share it with you as soon as I have the official translation of it. He is a first PM in Mongolia who came from a business background and I am pretty much convinced that he will deliver on his promises. He is doer. And I believe, the people are ready to follow his new leadership. I am. And I hope many more are. It is time to do things in Mongolia. It is time for people to start working on our own issues. It is time for each one of us to start contributing to the development. It is not a time for complaining and whyning. As the PM said, we TOGETHER CAN DO IT as citizens of a wealthy nation!

Third bit of news is that, I feel, and many people feel that as a country, Mongolia might be on the verge of enourmous turn-around in terms of its development. Last month the government has signed a landmark deal with Ivanhoe Mines and Rio Tinto on the production of copper and gold at Oyu Tolgoi mine. This long awaited deal has sent a positive signal to the investors close and far and put Mongolia on the spotlight of the world's business media. Never before I saw this amount of interest from foreign press and international investors in Mongolia. We are nearing a BOOM stage of the country's development and each one of its 2.7 million inhabitants. It is time for us to be smart and work hard. All else will follow!

I will stop here and try to publish this very first page. I want to share with you my thoughts on Davos, microfinance, financial sector development, business ideas, capital markets, and just simple life lessons going forward. Looking forward. In the meantime enjoy today!
